The culture of the First Nations of Australia is one of the last, if not the last, Paleolithic culture, the documented traces of which are at least 60,000 years old.
The art of indigenous Australians is created by societies living in far-reaching isolation from Western culture, so its understanding depends on the cultural and geographical context.
Myths and ceremonies permeate all human activities, where the image is only a complement to the whole, a commentary on a larger story or event.
