Kathleen Martin

(1974 – 2021)

She is a very talented artist, born in Yuendumu, Northern Territory. She started painting in 1990.

Kathleen's main stories are "The Possum's Dream" and "The Kangaroo's Dream." Both are very important to the indigenous people. Possum skin coverings were an important part of Aboriginal ritual and ceremonial life. Today, the tradition continues and the covers are used in welcoming ceremonies and community events.
