Cindi Wallace Nungarrayi
She was born in the Utopia region, approximately 300 km northeast of Alice Springs, in the land of Antangker. He paints Dreamtime Sisters who came from the stars to Earth in the Time of Creation. These ancestors taught people how to gather, prepare food and perform ceremonies. During the summer, women and children gather food and perform ceremonies. They paint their bodies with Awelye patterns, dance and sing.
Cindy describes stories using microscopic dots and different colors. Concentric circles represent stars, and small circles and dots symbolize food from the bush. In the central part of the painting, the Sisters are graphically presented, the oldest one in the middle teaching the younger ones how to collect food.
Cindy's style is minimalist and lyrical. Her works are included in collections both in Australia and around the world.
